Which of the following would be bigger for poker if they won the WSOP?

A) Greg Raymer
B) Phil Ivey
C) Tiffany Williamson

A valid case could be made for all of them, and I'm sure ESPN would be salivating at a final table with these 3.

Raymer bigger story. Ivey is mostly just a name within the poker world. If you ask the average joe to name a poker player most would say Raymer over Ivey due to his WSOP win last year and all these damn Pokerstars commericals.

The girl winning im still on the fence on. I truely believe there would be alot of guys who would hate it if a girl won the event so while it may be a big story it may be one for the wrong reasons.

my guess would be raymer or tiffany - and probably tiffany would be the BEST thing for the WSOP for there would be women out there saing "Way to go Girl" and try and do what she did and there would be guys watching at home thinking if a chick can win the WSOP so can i - and enter it in 2006

Tough call really. Probably best for another Moneymaker type, someone with almost no experience. If Ivey wins people will say chalk one up for the experienced pro and in some ways give a sense you have to be really good to win it. If Raymer wins they will just say he is focking lucky, don't know if that adds much to the game. If Williamson wins it might bring more attention to women in the game, but that would have been a far bigger story a year or two ago. Now if she beats some old pro in a heads-up matchup that might be one for the ages.

Yeah Annie Duke bugs me too. But even if the girl wins people will just go "oh she is lucky she isn't a pro like Annie is." In much the same fashion people say about Raymer

C is the answer I will go with because it opens up the poker market to two largely untapped resources, women and african-americans.

95% of poker players are white or asian men. If Tiffany were to win, you would see women and african-americans coming out of the woodwork to play the game and the poker boom would explode to unheard of heights.

Raymer winning twice in a row in fields of this size would be an absolutely unheard of accomplishment and would certainly keep poker's momentum going.

Ivey winning would validate that pros can win and it's not a complete crapshoot. It would prove skill plays a role and the top pros can win. It would also be personal vindication for him to get over the hump and win the main event.

All 3 of these would be good for poker and would continue to fuel the boom. I disagree that another no-name would benefit the community, as it would be a been here, done that sort of thing.
